below: (But the shafts and captals may both have been restored:)
i.e. the flower band: But they have only cylindrical block
bases.
This palace is very near the Vendramin There are 4 det 6ths on the lower story, with sections B,
Calerghi, on same side of grand canal wthose above have section A. I wish I could find
whether 5ths or 6ths uncusped, have usually this larger cavetto
after they have ceased to be of the stilted early form of Bacon palace
Palazzo (Erizzo)? p 58 Gothic book. This may be the next example.
it has only one interesting finestrata, on the first floor: but that is
very bold & beautiful. Tracery fig 1 Cusp of 4foil 2.
wherein note the curiously ogeed lower foil: hardly pointed; this
and the whole cusp carefully drawn. Compare it with that
of the pal. Bernardo p 48 Housebook 2. and the similar
traceries: The Lions heads are ill cut in both, here, especially
they are vile: yet of good bold type, and roses above very
good, of the massy ducal palace pattern.
The arch below, fig 3 p 58 l wherein note the cusp
entirely concident with roll a long way both below and above so that
in fact the roll melts into the side soffit, of the arch, and the
section through joint would be fig 4; note also the cusp
as nearly as possible equal on both its sides. I really cannot hardly
tell even on this spot, if the lower leaf of the trefoil be longer than the [?] upper
or not The acute pure point of the smaller foil is unusual
