walk outside on the top of the present arcade?
Again, Vid Selvatico’s note at p 108 about the red
columns, He assumes somewhat too boldly that they
could not be the same as now.

Ducal palace. The passage at 109 is the clearest of Selvatico’s he
will have the whole thing knocked down and rebuilt and
still we come to the face of the refare la fazade.
But observe, Selvatico at p 520 gives the Capitals of lower
story to the year 1463 and the porta della Carta to 1443
This, I think is absurd but I cannot compare the
sculptures carefully.

Orto, which compare 1399. door safe enough to 1443, It is ridiculous supposing the
palace of same time.
q. These statues were those on the renaissance pyramid But then what were the "Figure" for which the Bons
opposite Giant’s stair built 1462; vid below p 72. were paid in 1443 quoted by Sel. p 134.
A. were they not the statues in the Gothic work of the facade,
otherwise unnoticed by Selvatico, except at p 389.
