2. It may be understood that a certain degree of Grace
is given at Baptism but a degree not amounting to entire
conversion.
3. She may be understood that entire and real conversion
is the result of Baptism: but only of some Baptism, that
is to say of Baptiam rightly received.
4. She may hold (1) or (2) with respect to the nature
of Baptismal grace, and (3) with respect to its manner
of bestowing.
That all these various views may at present be supposed
consistant with the Church’s words, is evident enough from
the endless disputes upon the subject - which suppose
sometimes one and sometimes another.
Whatever view may be right, it is certain that the expression
of the church ought not to bear the interpretation into all
or any Examine therefore these several creeds: If you
can hold none of them, you may be no member of the Church
of England. But if you can conscientiously hold any one
of them then express that one clearly both to yourself
and to others, and be ready to give your support in case of
need - distinctly and calmly to that particular view
determining at the same time how far you may consider
those who hold in sincerity some other of the above
creeds, follow churchmen, or fellow Christians. and
whether it is right to break with them in order formally
to establish your own. Now in first approaching the sub-
