One of the richest districts in ancient houses in Venice
is that lying between the church of the Apostoli and
Jesuiti; Crossing the piazza degli Campo S. Apostoli with one’s back
to Ca Falier and instead of turning to the left as one would
to go towards the Ca d’oro keeping straight forward, one
enters the Salizzada del Pistor, where is the valuable
house on the right in housebook 2 41 1 at the end of the
Salazzada is the Calle della Madonna p 40 housebook 2
but turning to the lef right before reaching it, one enters
the Calle larga dei Proverbi where, on the right is a
noble brick arched door, on the left a house with a tier
of 11 fine 3rds four at: 3 at and 4 dets {the ats having}
on the usual early truncate angle shaft and head and besides
two fourths; all worked with [drawing]: Turning
then to the left, in the Calle del Taglia pietra, there is
a beautiful old remnant with its side to the Calle and its
face or back to a garden: on the side are two remarkably
bold 3rds with [drawing]: on the face, some very marked and
characteristic 4ths with the rare [drawing]: and just beyond,
turning to the right before crossing the Ponte de
Jesuiti, is the Rio Terra di Barba Fruttarol; where a
house on the right has fourths mixed; some with [drawing]
and some with [drawing] and another further on again
some pure 3rds, with [drawing]: Perhaps however the
neatest example of the 4th with [drawing] is at on the
small canal leading from the Ponte St Felice past the
fondamenta S. Felice; In front
