[M2.85L] [M2.85] 85
Finally, on Nos 152 159 is given the cross bar of the
tracery of the lateral windows; on the side of the passage
round the church: The heads of these windows are the
same as those of the lower story of apse, as far as I could
see - at least they are in general plan; but the style of
the management is evidently immensely later; note on No
152 the shallow rolls now become pure semicircles, the
elaborate {pendant} finial {fig 2} square instead of octagon,
its plan turned up above its profile with tracery falling
on it - note the same principle however kept of half
separating the rolls - characteristic of early work?
The lions heads are less spirited by far though still good
and bristly - but beginning to melt down. The capitals
have same sections - but are more elaborate and curly
in lobes. They are well ribbed.
The jamb section fig 3 is highly interesting; the turn
of the bottom of the window is shown below; it is worked
all in brick below the jamb; and some section in s tone
on the archivolt; having the banded plinth between, fig 4
and fig 5, is the length of a dentil; each dentil a double
square and with two dogt; to it a very perfectly organized
system.
