CA CAVALLI TRACERIES
the double order which is added to the cusp in the great
4 foils - between the arches - a a opposite (the inter-
mediate space b b having merely a ) fig 5 sketch of
the effect of cusp thus treated Observe
One does not quite see on what principle the inner order
is so much reduced at the point: unless it be a law that
the truncation takes place only perpendicular to the curve
otherwise why not at x opposite, I should like to look
at this again
2. Fig 6 Section of shaft head - very carefully taken through
out it is an ugly capital - though good in plan leaves
curling down from above and springing from below
but not meeting: others seen through flat on the ball,
but all heavy and ill cut. The bases fig 7 much
finer with pure simple undercorated high ended leaf - perhap
the best thing about the palace.
Fig [Fgg] 8 Perspective of arrangement of capital under
fillets with dentil, on the half shaft at end
of arcade, and section below.
2. Fig 9 (Cusp of det 4 foil) 2 double ordered or not.
All the truncations are ( --- ) .
