Note the dark points of penetration offered Troy [es?]
to white surface: In the blank arch, (next page)
are hollow traceries: somewhat impure.

[drawing] [drawing] a [diagram]
Foliation of Pulpit of Monza: showing
sub crockets, as at St Urbain of Troyes.
These however are pure classical leaves
of exquisite roll: the way they steal out
to the edges of the soffit is seen in
the profile. a. on next page their general
position is seen: and the placing of
cusps on the excessively flat arch of
which they leave part unmodified, thus
producing a flattened or rather flat
headed foils
There is [diagram]
a fine sympathy in this with the classical
ornament.
