Prout completed two Ratisbonne subjects. Halton notes: 'the peculiar triangular porch of the cathedral is a fine example of Prout's drawing of the more robust character, executed with a frankness and confidence which are somewhat lacking in the second view' (see Halton, Sketches by Samuel Prout, p. 24). Lockett, provides an image of a watercolour by Prout of Ratisbonne ('Regensburg Cathedral, Bavaria: view from the west porch' plate 51, see Lockett, Samuel Prout 1783-1852 p.144).
