Full title The day after the wreck. Dutch East Indiaman on shore in the Ooster Scheldt; Zierikzee in the distance. Oil on canvas (153 x 232.5). Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1844 (187) and engraved for Finden's Royal Gallery of British Art, part Xlll, 1847. The picture was dedicated to the King of the Netherlands (Sheffield City Art Galleries). (illustrated in van der Merwe et. al, The Spectacular Career of Clarkson Stanfield 1793-1867 p.169)
