Lincolnshire is a county in eastern England on the Humber Estuary, the North Sea and the Wash, its administrative centre being Lincoln. To the north of Lincoln are the Lincolnshire Wolds, comprising small rolling hills and small market towns. In the south east are the Lincolnshire Fens, reclaimed from the sea for agricultural use. Ruskin claims to find no enjoyment in the flatness of the Fen country ( Works, 6.418-19).
