Valcanover, 'Frescoes from the Fondaco dei Tedeschi', p. 135ff, gives an account of the remnants of the frescoes by Titian and Giorgione of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi which have been detached and rescued, and quotes the description in Milesio (1715).
One sees a Judith with a sword in hand, and under her feet the severed head of Prince Holophernes... located above the door. In the corner towards the Rialto bridge there is an Eve.. .above said figure runs a frieze in chiaroscuro, that girds the entire facade, with animals, arabesques and other fantasies. In the other corner towards the Calle della Bissa, there is seen a nude Venus, a Levantine and a knight of those young men of Venetian noble families called della Calza. ( Valcanover, 'Frescoes from the Fondaco dei Tedeschi', p.135)
Pignatti, Giorgione, p. 34, suggests that it is not now possible to distinguish Titian's work on the frecoes from that of Giorgione.
