Lawrence Woof was the full-time Editor of the project from its commencement in January 1997 until August 2001. He took responsibility for designing the look and functionality of the interface, determining the extent and rationale of the hypertext, designing the mode of interaction between facsimiles and machine-readable texts as well as overseeing the day to day running of the project.
