Vaughan

Robert Vaughan (1795-1868). Congregationalist minister, academic and author, Vaughan was an admirer of John Wycliffe, on whom he published. A contributor to the Eclectic Review, Vaughan founded the British Quarterly Review in 1843, where he held the position of editor for twenty years. Formerly a Professor of History at University College, London, Vaughan became President and Professor of Theology at the Lancashire Independent College, Manchester in 1843. He established a reputation as a powerful preacher and believed that nonconformity had an essential role to play in the Evangelical movement.
