Paul Atkinson

Paul Atkinson is Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology at Cardiff University. He is Associate Director of the ESRC Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics. His research interests are: the sociology of biomedical knowledge; the sociology of cultural production; ethnographic research methods.

He is the author or co-author of 16 books, including'Medical Work and Medical Talk','The Ethnographic Imagination','The Clinical Experience','Ethnography'
(with Martyn Hammersley),'Risky Relations', with Katie Featherstone, Aditya Bharadwaj and Angus Clarke),'Making Sene of Qualitative Data' (with Amanda Coffey),'Interactionism' (with William Housley, and'The Doctoral Experience'
(with Sara Delamont).

He is co-editor of the journal'Qualitative Research', and was one of the editors of'The Handbook of Ethnography'. He is an Academician of the Academy of the Learned Societies in the Social Sciences.
