    Defying Dementia is a community supported campaign tackling the big threat presented by Alzheimer's Disease.

  • Scholarships and Opportunity

    By donating to scholarships and opportunities you can help us to encourage students from less privileged backgrounds, fund young researchers and enable students to continue their studies regardless of financial hardship.

  • LUMS Investors in Excellence Campaign

    By becoming a LUMS Investor in Excellence, you can support Lancaster University Management School, our students and researchers, across a number of projects.

  • The Greatest Need Fund

    This campaign helps fund projects which improve our students' experience of university life, as well as college based projects and initiatives to increase academic resources and excellence.

  • Lancaster Sanctuary Fellowship

    This is an urgent campaign to help academics who are unable to carry out their work because of conflict, violence or oppression in their home country.

The June Baker Singers Support Defying Dementia

Set up by June Baker around 30 years ago, this wonderful group of singers hold concerts to raise much needed funds for local charities. Since 2022, the choir has raised funds for Defying Dementia through their concerts, helping to advance our vital research.

Neil Eckersley: Defying Dementia Through Visual Art

Introducing double Olympian, Visual Artist and Friend of Defying Dementia, Neil Eckersley. His work in raising awareness of dementia and the importance of sparking conversations about dementia has been showcased through a small exhibition of his work. It highlights the effects of dementia and encourages anyone impacted to access the support available to them.

Defying Dementia Fundraising and Community Shop Raises £50,000 for Dementia Research

We are delighted to share with you the tremendous achievement of one of our key supporters. The Defying Dementia Fundraising and Community shop is located in Lancaster City Centre and the amazing team of staff and volunteers work tirelessly to raise vital funds which go towards supporting the Defying Dementia fundraising campaign.

An Insight into Defying Dementia at Lancaster

The Defying Dementia team recently hosted informative talks and lab tours on campus. The event provided a unique opportunity to gain insights into vitally important research and witness first-hand the innovation happening within the laboratories.

Our University Colleges came together this summer to provide a range of events and activities to support the students on campus over the summer period, helping to build a community support network at a time that can be quite isolating.

Rugby Success for Lancaster Student

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Adam Lavin fulfilled his sporting ambition of representing England Universities at the Student Rugby League Four Nations tournament in Wales in July this year. After being selected for the team, England won all their games, winning the tournament and lifting the trophy!

Queen Elizabeth II’s Green Canopy Wellbeing Tree Trail

A new Wellbeing Tree Trail to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign has been developed at Lancaster University. The Green Canopy Trail has seen more than 70 specimen trees planted, with each tree representing each year of Her Majesty’s reign.

The Law School Mobility Fund

After recognising the challenges being faced by students as a result of the cost-of-living crisis, the donor-funded Law School Social Mobility Fund has been instrumental in enabling the Law School to respond to the changing needs of our students.

Through no fault of their own, students can find themselves in the most difficult of circumstances. Nothing can be truer of the situation that those in Ukraine have found themselves in. Through the University’s commitment to the #TwinForHope initiative, we were able to support Sofiia Denysiuk’s journey from her university in Dnipro to Lancaster.

Our Student Call Team

Introducing our Student Call Team!

The Lancaster University Friends Programme is a long-term fundraising initiative which has been going since 2001. Its aim is to raise funds from our alumni and friends to support a number of important causes across the Lancaster campus and the wider community including:

  • Ground-breaking research, such as our Defying Dementia research
  • Student scholarships
  • Support for at-risk academics - the Lancaster Sanctuary Fellowship

Our student call team contact alumni during term time to update alumni details, compare experiences of Lancaster and to make alumni aware of the fantastic causes which the university is supporting.

Since an agreement was signed between Santander Universities and Lancaster University in 2011 the University has awarded more than £800,000 directly to students.
