A great foundation for commercial awareness is understanding how organisations fit together holistically to create value.

Understanding Organisations!

A great foundation for commercial awareness is understanding how organisations fit together holistically to create value. Whatever your field, in the future, mastering the concept of business model thinking now, is a commercial awareness skill to take you and your fit and effectiveness in organisations of all shapes and sizes forward. Whether it’s a student society or a future employer.

In this session you’ll explore how to unpick and understand any organisation through the lens of a visual tool called the Business Model Canvas.  You'll learn live with peers, and a local business owner manager hands on to unpack their businesses parts and narrative. Seeing ‘inside’ an actual business, you‘ll get chance to ask lots of questions about the business and how it all works. You’ll be able to apply what you learn to organisations in other sectors.

This experience will help you:

  • develop your commercial awareness
  • give you tools and resources to build forward
  • understanding potential employers or their competitors
  • visualise how organisations work, struggle, survive and grow

A short taught section at the start of each workshop will explore topics including:

  • Who are my Customers?
  • What are their needs?
  • Problem research & Problem solution fit
  • Making ideas tangible
  • Prototyping to learn
  • Solution research and Product market fit
