Manx Medieval Crosses Project in the News
A Lancaster project to produce the first 3D digital corpus of the Isle of Man's medieval monuments has been featured on the BBC news website.
The project, led in Lancaster by Dr Patricia Murrieta-Flores in collaboration with Manx National Heritage and Archaeovision, has scanned all of the 210 stone monuments, using high-resolution 3D scanning models.
As Inspector of ancient monuments Andrew Johnson notes in the BBC article, the crosses are 'of international significance for what they tell us of the island's medieval past ... for the crosses to become available and accessible to so many by this means is a godsend.'
The corpus can be accessed for free via Sketchfab.
