This free event for schools, organised by Dr Charlotte Baker, is part of the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Festival of Social Science 2019.

This schools event will include:

  • a guided tour of Lancaster castle, focusing on the Lancashire Witches
  • a photographic exhibition 'From horror to hope: Witchcraft and Human Rights', launched at the UN Human Rights Council in 2018 and now travelling between venues internationally
  • a short illustrated talk by Dr Charlotte Baker from Lancaster University, and Leethen Bartholomew from the Witchcraft and Human Rights Information Network. The talk will focus on the work of human rights advocates, civil society, academics and international organisations who are working to tackle witchcraft-related human rights abuses
  • an interactive workshop run by Dr Charlotte Baker, where pupils will use creative methods to reflect on what they have learnt.
