University and Department Open and Visit Days
University open days
The University holds three Open Days every year, two in July and one in September. These have become very popular with students who wish to visit our University prior to applying for a University place. The Department participates in this and arranges special sessions for visitors interested in languages.
You can book a place online or by email or telephone through the UK Student Recruitment and Outreach Office. Read more about visiting the University»
Departmental visit days for current applicants
All applicants who receive an offer of a place from us are invited to attend a departmental visit day on a choice of dates in February and March.
If you attend one of these visit days, as many of our applicants of course do, then you will be given the opportunity to meet various members of our full-time staff, to hear more detailed information about our courses, and to be taken on a one-hour guided tour of the campus. During the tour of the campus, you can expect to see the library, social and sporting facilities, and one of the residential colleges.
You will also meet some of our final-year students who will have spent the previous year abroad in the country or the countries whose language and culture they are studying. They will therefore be able to give you first-hand information about their own experiences and a foretaste of what you can expect when you too embark on this exciting part of your 4-year degree course at Lancaster.
Campus tours and drop-in sessions
Organised tours of campus take place throughout the year. They start at 1.30 pm prompt. They are run by the UK Student Recruitment and Outreach team. Some of these campus tours are followed by a 'drop in' visit to departments. They must be booked in advance. For a full list of dates and to book your place, please contact the UK Student Recruitment and Outreach team.
Informal visits to the department
If you would like to visit the department at other times, we would be happy to arrange this for you. Please contact the Admissions Coordinator to book an appointment with a tutor.
