MLang Languages and Cultures
This highly selective programme offers an exceptional opportunity to anyone with grades AAB or higher to obtain an MLang Languages and Cultures degree within four years of study in higher education.
Students begin their MLang degree at Lancaster University, studying French, German or Spanish alongside two other subjects, which can include another language. Students continue with one or two languages, spending the second year of their degree on a International Placement Year in partner universities. Students will attend courses and sit examinations in the partner institution, and will write an International Placement Year project in the target language(s) for assessment by Lancaster University.
In the third year, students return to Lancaster University to develop advanced oral and written language skills and study a range of specialist research-driven culture modules. Students enrolled on the MLang then progress into the postgraduate year. A range of core and optional modules support students in writing a researched dissertation on a topic of their choice, which is supervised by an academic with the appropriate expertise.
