The Lancaster 2016 SLSA Annual Conference will continue to provide family facilities, following Warwick 2015.

We plan to provide a space for parents and young children away from the hustle and bustle of the conference in the LICA building (building 4, Lancaster University Campus Map).
Sports Centre and Woodland Walk
The University has an excellent sports centre including a swimming pool and climbing wall. There is also a woodland walk, and playground (located between buildings 55 and 60 on the Lancaster University Campus Map).
Moorside Kids Club
Moorside Kids Club is held at Moorside Primary School in Lancaster and is open from 8am-6pm the cost is £20 for a full day (£19 sibling rate) and £10 for a half day (£9 sibling rate). Children are to bring their own lunches, but Moorside do provide snacks and drinks throughout the day. There are a range of activities provided for children aged between 3 and 11.
Advanced booking is essential.
The School is easily accessible from Lancaster City Centre or from Lancaster University Campus by bus.

There are several holiday schemes available in the area including the local authority programme of activities, the University Sports Centre programme and other providers such as Mad Science (details below).
Mad Science and Mad4Kids both take place on Campus, however the Local Authority schemes take place off campus at Salt Ayre Sports Centre.

The Sports Centre is a 5 minute downhill walk from the Conference venue at the main entrance to campus.

Mad Science Camps
This event is not connected with the Conference, so you should book this privately. There is a camp running from 4th-8th April on campus – when booking you can use the postcode ‘LA1 4YW’ to find it. The Chaplaincy Centre where the camp is based is opposite the Law School, so it is very close to the conference venue. You can book for individual days or as a block. Places are limited.
Lancaster City Council Holiday Activity Programmes

The City Council Holiday Activity Programme provides hundreds of exciting activities for young people aged 2 -16 during the school holidays. For further details see http://www.lancaster.gov.uk/salt-ayre-leisure-centre/holiday-activity-programmes
Baby changing facilities are available within the Great Hall Complex (where the publishers' stands are located, and where refreshments and lunch will be served), and are also available near to many of the conference session rooms in the Chaplaincy Centre. Please see buildings 11 and 24 on the Lancaster University Campus Map.
There is a limited amount of twin room accommodation on campus. Please book online as normal and then contact Emma Beaumont in the Conference Centre to arrange to be allocated to a twin room.
There would be a charge of £18.00 per day for the additional breakfast/person in the room, if you could call the office once you have booked all your other items Emma can arrange to take this part of the payment for you as we don’t have an option for this set up online.
Please note that if your child requires a cot you should bring your own as the University does not provide these.
In the event that no more twin rooms are available on campus, a small number of twin rooms are available from the Conference hotels in town.
