This 1-hour event aims to grow understanding and connectivity in the area of Nature-Based Solutions. Hosted by the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation, this event is relevant for university researcher staff and students, academics and professional staff interested in our research and innovation themes.
This event will involve lightning talks, networking, and interactive elements aiming to grow understanding and connectivity in the area of Nature-Based Solutions. Nature-based solutions are interventions, practices, products or services that work with or enhance nature. It’s widely recognised that nature provides us with many goods and services: from clean air and water, to regulating climate and underpinning our health and culture. By working with nature, rather than against it, we can enhance the delivery of those goods and services, support thriving ecosystems, and developing a green economy. Examples include natural flood management practices, soil carbon sequestration for climate change, and green infrastructure in cities. We can also learn from nature to create efficient, resilient and sustainable systems. At Lancaster University we have broad expertise in environment and ecology, engineering, finance, design and health to support the development of nature-based solutions and have a number of active research projects in this area.
Speakers include:
- Rob Lamb & Barry Hankin (JBA Trust)
- Alex Bush (Lancaster Environment Centre)
- Tori Janes-Bassett (LEC & SCC)
- Darren Axe (Green Lancaster)
