The hard and dirty work of responding to natural disasters and restoring ecosystems is often carried out by people who are poorly paid, or not paid at all.

Dr Ben Neimark, of the Lancaster Environment Centre, writes in The Conversation about an emerging “eco-precariat” that bears little resemblance to the labour movement that’s urgently needed to mitigate the climate and ecological crisis.
