These will be very much participative and interactive sessions led by a Panel with an audience of invited guests. Each of our Debates will be streamed live and made available as edited highlights .<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I. \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/?event_id=709\">Encouraging multifunctionality by soil carbon sequestration<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/?event_id=709\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/span>Thursday 5<sup>th<\/sup> May 2011 at One Queen Anne\u2019s Gate, London (4.30-6.30 pm)<br \/>\n<strong>Chair: <\/strong>\u00a0Joe Holden, Leeds University<\/p>\n<p>Our first N8 Debate on <a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/events_archive.php?event_id=709\">Encouraging Multifunctionality by Soil Carbon Sequestration<\/a> held in London\u00a0 at British Water and The Work Foundation proved to be a great success.\u00a0\u00a0A news feature and link to the Adobe Connect recording are <a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/news\/?article_id=1137\">now available<\/a><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">II. \u00a0<\/span><a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/?event_id=698\">Valuing the environment \u2013 looking beyond the economics<\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Thursday 26<sup>th<\/sup> May 2011 at Lancaster Environment Centre (4.30-6.30pm)<br \/>\n<strong>Chair:<\/strong>\u00a0 Louise Heathwaite, Lancaster Environment Centre<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The second N8 Debate on <a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/events_archive.php?event_id=698\">Valuing the Environment: Looking beyond the Economics<\/a> took place on the 26th May 2011 at the Lancaster Environment Centre and was a resounding success.\u00a0 Chaired by Professor Louise Heathwaite, the event featured interactive questioning and input from a range of remote participants engaging online. Panel members included Ian Bateman (UEA), Allan Provins (eftec), Topsy Rudd (Cascade Consulting) and Graham Harris (Lancaster University).\u00a0\u00a0An overview and link to the Adobe Connect recording are <a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/news\/?article_id=1156\">now available<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">III. \u00a0<\/span><a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/events_archive.php?event_id=718\">Food security and sustainable water supplies<\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>September 22nd \u00a02011\u00a0at the Stockbridge Technology Centre, Selby, North Yorkshire<br \/>\n<strong>Chair:<\/strong>\u00a0 Tim Burt, Durham University<\/p>\n<p>The third in our series of \u2018N8 Debates\u2019 during 2011 <a rel=nofollow href=\"http:\/\/www.lec.lancs.ac.uk\/news_and_events\/events\/events_archive.php?event_id=718\">&#8220;Food Security and Sustainable Water Supplies&#8221;<\/a> focused on the national and international challenges associated with managing water resources in tandem with food and energy supplies.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Tim Burt (Durham University) chaired the Debate.
