Alpine Environmental Processes, Switzerland

Alpine Environmental Processes, Switzerland

This intensive week-long residential fieldtrip to south west Switzerland is a new collaborative third year module, jointly offered by the University of Lausanne and Lancaster University. It is a unique intercultural exchange in knowledge, with Lancaster and Lausanne students working together. The module provides students with training in the design and implementation of research to understand alpine environments.

Students will collect significant amounts of field data and focus on one of six interconnected study themes, spanning:

  • alpine climate and hydrology
  • glacial processes
  • alpine rivers
  • streams
  • soils
  • ecosystems

The module will provide students with an in-depth understanding of a particular thematic focus of alpine environments.
