I am a Faculty Librarian with responsibility for developing print and electronic library collections to support teaching and research across subject disciplines in FHM.

This involves identifying and responding to resource requirements together with liaison with library vendors and publishers, including the negotiation of licence terms. I also have responsibility for the advocacy and support of the online resource list system.

Together with my colleagues Tanya and Lesley I focus on supporting staff and students in FHM with a range of library-related issues. This includes providing advice on selecting and using specialist databases, planning search strategies, systematic literature searching and referencing. I am able to assist with enquiries concerning Mendeley and other non-standard referencing software.

I am experienced in, and have an ongoing interest in evidence-based practice and critical appraisal, literature searching and the implementation of innovative technologies in healthcare and health libraries.

I can support students and researchers in the Faculty of Health and Medicine in developing their information literacy skills. This can include support with carrying out a systematic literature review, effective database searching, accessing subject-specific resources, referencing and using RefWorks and EndNote to record and manage references.

As one of the Teaching and Learning Librarians I am involved in delivering lectures and workshops in developing students’ information literacy skills which are embedded into the curriculum.  I also teach on the Library and Information Skills programme (both face-to-face and using webinar) and create online content including Subject Guides and online learning material.

I have postgraduate qualifications in Academic Practice, Information and Library Management and Working with individual on the autism spectrum. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. I have an interest in supporting students in the transition into Higher Education and in technology enhanced learning.

I can help students, researchers and staff to make the best use of information resources by delivering engaging workshops and presentations; developing online guides and interactive tutorials; and providing one-to-one consultations. My aim is to help library users to develop their own information skills, and enjoy discovering the information they need.

I am one of the Faculty Librarians for staff and students in the three divisions of the Faculty of Health & Medicine (FHM):

  • Biomedical and Life Sciences
  • Division of Health Research
  • Medical School

I'm often asked about literature searching, finding the evidence for systematic reviews and managing references with EndNote, and welcome any enquiries.

I deliver workshops and webinars on the Library & Information Skills programme

I have a postgraduate qualification in Information Studies. I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Other interests include: library innovation, information literacy, active learning, bibliometrics and researcher development.
