Arrivals

Arrivals at Lancaster is a great way to orientate yourself and settle in to student life before your studies begin. Lonsdale SCR (staff exec) and JCR (student committee) aim to facilitate a smooth arrival for you and get your acquainted with the College, University and local area.

Coronavirus (Covid-19): We know how important the welcome period is to our new students. It's a chance to meet new people, learn about Lancaster and become part of our community. We are currently working on the schedule 2020, ensuring we have plans in place to support you and keep you safe. As an integral part of the University, the College is following the latest UK government health advice on managing coronavirus. Please see the Lancaster University Our Promise webpages for more information.

This year we are planning for an extended arrivals period to ensure that your move onto campus is safe and well-organised. Over our main arrivals days of 23 and 24 September, our College Reps (wearing blue t-shirts) will be placed in and around college spaces to direct you to your key collection point and to your accommodation, where you can settle in and get to know your housemates. Our College staff will be available should you have any questions or queries.

The University will run a series of events to ease you in to academic life, so it's up to the Colleges to focus on creating a home for you and making you feel like part of Lonsdale. To help your transition, our JCR are working on a range of events (mainly virtual) to help introduce you to college life.

For more information, see the University's Welcome week website. You can also browse the Welcome Week schedule via the ilancaster app.

College Membership Fee

All students, both resident students and commuter students, become members of a college when they join Lancaster University. Each college has slightly different facilities and delivers a varied range of activities and events, all with the aim of providing an environment that enhances study, recreation and personal development, as well as a support network provided by staff. To help deliver these aims, each student is charged a one-off membership fee when they join the university. All income received via membership fees is spent on supporting and enhancing the college community. This is only paid once during your time at university and it should be paid here via the online store prior to your arrival.

Standard Membership £40

All undergraduate members of Lonsdale will be charged £40. This fee covers the full period of your degree.

Exchange Membership £15

A fee of £15 will apply for visiting students joining Lonsdale College for an academic year/ any part of an academic year.

Off campus students

You are still a member of Lonsdale and we actively encourage you to participate in all events and in college life to make the most of your time here at Lancaster. If you have any queries, please contact Julie via email or via Microsoft Teams.
