{"id":2003,"date":"2019-11-26T21:21:45","date_gmt":"2019-11-26T21:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/luges\/?p=2003"},"modified":"2021-11-29T16:01:59","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T16:01:59","slug":"committee-meeting-bnsr-12-21-10-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/luges\/committee-meeting-bnsr-12-21-10-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Committee Meeting, BNSR 12, 19\/10\/19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Committee Present<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ben Cowling (<strong>Chair<\/strong>)<\/li><li>Mubarak Salawu (<strong>Minutes<\/strong>)<\/li><li>Josh Brown<\/li><li>James Bulman<\/li><li>Karen Cheung<\/li><li>Jack Holden<\/li><li>Kieran Taylor<\/li><li>Ryan Treacy<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Committee Absent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Katie Stevenson (<strong>prior notice given<\/strong>)<\/li><li>Noah Valpy-White (<strong>prior notice given<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-Committee Present<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Isaac Farrier<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>18:37<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<strong>Meeting Start<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bailrigg Profits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Issac <\/strong>stated that we now have a lot of money due to Bailrigg and that he would like to see it spent in a way that would benefit the Society and the Smash and Bairigg community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Isaac<\/strong> suggested using the money to buy a monitor.<\/li><li>The total amount should be \u00a3152.53 after all payouts.<\/li><li><strong>Ben<\/strong> stated that he is in favour of that idea.<\/li><li><strong>Isaac<\/strong> stated that with Black Friday sales, we may be able to get 2 monitors.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ben<\/strong> raised the issue of perhaps not being able to store 2 monitors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Josh<\/strong> replied by stating that we need to clear out storage soon anyway.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Isaac<\/strong> stated that the Committee should do an inventory check while <strong>Jack<\/strong> is still available as he won&#8217;t be at Michaelmas LAN 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ben<\/strong> stated that he saw some demand for headphone splitters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Isaac<\/strong> stated that the Smash and Bailrigg community don&#8217;t have a demand for headphone splitters.<\/li><li><strong>Ben<\/strong> then agreed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>James<\/strong> suggested using the money to buy another Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ben<\/strong> stated that the Society doesn&#8217;t need another Switch but having another one would be nice.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Committee also suggested that buying a monitor and saving the rest for a later purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>James<\/strong> and <strong>Isaac<\/strong> were both in favour of having more monitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Josh<\/strong> raised the point of the Society having approximately \u00a3760 from membership payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jack<\/strong> stated that we would need a new charging dock for the Switch&#8217;s joy-cons if we were to get a new Switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Mo<\/strong> stated that there would be more &#8220;hidden&#8221; costs to buying a Switch, such as protective containment, etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Week 9 Bar Crawl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ben<\/strong> asked if the Society should have a bar crawl in Week 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Committee decided that we should have a Bar Crawl for Week 9 but would also ensure that it is separate from LUMAS&#8217;s bar crawl.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Michaelmas LAN 2 Timetable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Time<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Event<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>12 pm &#8211; 12 pm <\/td><td> <em>Break<\/em> <\/td><\/tr><tr><td> 12 am &#8211; 3 am<\/td><td>LUGES After Dark<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Meeting Proposals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Getting rid of the Community Officer role.<\/li><li>Adding <strong>Brent <\/strong>as the dedicated WebMaster for the Society, which would involve creating a new Committee role and removing the clause in the Constitution that states that Committee members have to be members of the Student&#8217;s Union.<ul><li>The Committee was against this idea.<\/li><li><strong>Karen<\/strong> stated that the Committee should instead learn how to use the website.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Belong Arena<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Katie<\/strong> had not responded to the Belong Arena organisers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Karen<\/strong> volunteered to go this Friday to try and organise the event. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tuesday Socials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Committee agreed that none of the events\/themed socials seem to be having much of an effect on the turnout or engagement of the socials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It was suggested to run fewer events but more often.<ul><li><strong>Karen<\/strong> responded by stating that we shouldn&#8217;t be charging \u00a37 for membership if we aren&#8217;t running many events.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Karen<\/strong> suggested having two types of membership.<ul><li>One for Esports and one for casual gamers.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Karen<\/strong> suggested better utilising sign-up information when creating and planning events.<ul><li><strong>Ben<\/strong> stated that the Committee should create a feedback survey to be distributed over Christmas.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>19:11<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Josh<\/strong> was told to be quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>19:14<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Karen<\/strong> was told to be quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was stated that people don&#8217;t usually fill in feedback surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Karen<\/strong> and <strong>Josh<\/strong> stated that we should have created and distributed this survey earlier in the term.<ul><li><strong>Kieran<\/strong>,  <strong>Karen<\/strong> and <strong>Josh<\/strong> stated that we should create the feedback survey as soon as possible.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Josh<\/strong> stated that he would make the feedback survey as long as the rest of the Committee send him questions to add to the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>James<\/strong> stated that he hadn&#8217;t asked the membership how\/if they were enjoying the Society to get feedback metrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ben<\/strong> stated that <strong>James<\/strong> is now responsible for asking the membership how\/if they are enjoying the Society to get feedback metrics.<ul><li><strong>James<\/strong> stated that he may need some help from <strong>Katie<\/strong> to do this.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rockband Social<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Committee decided to run a Rockband social in County Bar in Week 8 which would replace the usual County Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ben<\/strong> stated that he would also bring back the #rockband-requests channel to get member input on the songs that will be played at this social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hoodies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was suggested that we could now sell two different hoodies as we now have two different logos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Committee also decided that we would need to get a new supplier for the next set of hoodies due to the issues we ran into with the previous supplier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Membership Cards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee was against the idea of having membership cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Kieran<\/strong> stated that there would be better ways for the Committee to check a person&#8217;s membership status, such as checking their subscription page on the Union&#8217;s website to see if they are subscribed to the Society and, therefore, have paid for their membership to the Society for this academic year.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Speaker for Rockband<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>James<\/strong> stated that he may be able to loan a speaker from a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rockband for next term<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Josh<\/strong> stated that we left booking Pendle Bar too late into the term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mo<\/strong> stated that he would message Pendle JCR&#8217;s Facebook page to try and book the venue for next term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AOB<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Committee was invited to play a game of dodgeball this Sunday to for charity at the request of the Mental Health Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Committee all responded stating that they were too busy to attend.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>19:32<\/em><\/strong> &#8211;
