{"id":2122,"date":"2020-03-17T18:14:47","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T18:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/luges\/?p=2122"},"modified":"2021-11-29T16:01:59","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T16:01:59","slug":"general-meeting-county-bar-10-3-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/luges\/general-meeting-county-bar-10-3-20\/","title":{"rendered":"General Meeting, County Bar, 10\/3\/20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Committee Present<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ben Cowling (<strong>Chair<\/strong>)<\/li><li>Mubarak Salawu (<strong>Minutes<\/strong>)<\/li><li>James Bulman<\/li><li>Noah Valpy-White<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Committee Absent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Josh Brown (<strong>explained<\/strong>)<\/li><li>Karen Cheung<\/li><li>Jack Holden<\/li><li>Katie Stevenson<\/li><li>Ryan Treacy <\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>Eligible voters: 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong><em>20:03<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>Meeting Start<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Constitutional Amendments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alton Towers Trip Leader Role<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Motion to create a new Committee role called the Alton Towers Trip Leader that would delete itself after the Alton Towers Trip and co-opt <strong>Joshua Brown<\/strong> into the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brent<\/strong> <strong>Oates<\/strong> asked how <strong>Josh <\/strong>was going to be co-opted as the process would require a General Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Brent<\/strong> also expressed concerns with the methods by which this role would be created.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kieran Taylor<\/strong> stated that such a decision should be done during a General Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ben<\/strong> agreed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brent<\/strong> stated that, under the current Constitutional ruling, the role would have to be advertised prior to this meeting and would need to allow for candidates to run for this role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Brent<\/strong> showed <strong>Ben<\/strong> where these clauses were in the Constitution.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ben<\/strong> decided to postpone this motion until the next General Meeting, approximately Week 23 or 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Elections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">President Election<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Candidates:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Moshiur &#8220;Mahi&#8221; Chowdhury (absent)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brent<\/strong> refused to go first to read out his speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mahi<\/strong> wasn&#8217;t present but asked <strong>Josh<\/strong> to read out his speech for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brent<\/strong> stated, during his speech, stated that he believes that there are procedures that are not being followed properly within the Society along with certain things not being done at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brent<\/strong> also stated that <strong>Mahi<\/strong> winning Presidency would only result in catering towards the Esports side of the Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>James<\/strong> <strong>Pett<\/strong> asked <strong>Brent<\/strong> what his favourite pizza topping was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Brent<\/strong> responded stating that his favourite pizza topping was pineapple.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kieran<\/strong> asked who <strong>Mahi<\/strong> was<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tom<\/strong> responded stating that <strong>Mahi<\/strong> was a second-year Biochemistry student.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Votes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Brent: 5<\/li><li>Mahi: 0<\/li><li>Re-open Nominations: 10<\/li><li>Abstain: 2<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vote to re-open nominations for President passed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Esports Coordinator Election<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Candidates<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>No nominations for Esports Coordinator<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>No on the day nominations for Esports Coordinators <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>Vote to re-open nominations for Esports Coordinator passed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  <strong><em>20:23<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>Meeting End.<\/strong> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Committee Present Ben Cowling (Chair) Mubarak Salawu (Minutes) James Bulman Noah Valpy-White Committee Absent Josh Brown (explained) Karen Cheung Jack Holden Katie Stevenson Ryan Treacy Eligible voters: 17 20:03\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Meeting Start.
