A two-day in-person workshop to explore how notions of responsible action may emerge across a number of business and management sub-disciplines.

Thanks to all those who answered our call for expressions of interest. Participants have now been contacted and no further registrations are being taken.

The Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business is running a two day in-person workshop to explore how notions of responsible action may emerge across a number of business and management sub-disciplines. Central to the investigation is the notion of ‘infrastructuring moral markets’ as an activity whereby: markets are seen as being capable of configuring ‘good/sustainable’ outcomes through the interaction of practices (and the people who perform them) and design principles (configurations that enable outcomes to be achieved).

Presentations will include selected historical insights into the development of responsibility, a touch down in current challenges and a strong focus on forward looking needs across a variety of activities. Indeed, this is an important part of the seminar, developing synergistic insights that can be drawn between business and management sub-communities might not usually meet each other. It is an open exploratory question as to if infrastructuring moral markets is an intellectual framework that will support our collective thoughts in this area.

We hope that by the end of the event that we may be able to say something collectively about the future direction of research in business and management studies.
