All three will go to China in September 2015 to begin six-month scholarships to study at two Chinese universities. The scholarships cover tuition in Chinese language and culture plus accommodation. 

Thomas and James achieved their scholarships at South China University of Technology through attending Chinese classes at the Confucius Institute for two terms, while Edward gained his scholarship at Nanjing University by being placed third in the Jiangsu Cup Chinese talent contest.

Encouraged by these three scholarship winners, first-year students Kamila Chalabi (BA Management and Organisation) and Arturs Tiscenko (BSc Economics), together with Holly Bradley (BA Linguistics with Chinese), Josh Hodgson (MSci Mathematics) and Kathryn Lewis (MSci Mathematics), took either HSK Level 2 or 3 earlier this month and passed with high scores.
