Feedback System

Feedback System

The Feedback system provides an alternative to using mailto URLs on web pages. Instead of using a link like:

<a href="mailto:helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk">Helpdesk Feedback</a>

You can use:

<a href="http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/mailto/helpdesk">Helpdesk Feedback</a>

or (for pages within https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/)

<a href="/mailto/helpdesk">Helpdesk Feedback</a>

This has some advantage over mailto: URLs:

The mailbox that messages go to is not shown (this can help to cut down on spam);
The mailbox that mesages go to can be changed without editing any content;
The browser does not need to be mail-enabled to be able to send feedback.
The feedback URL can be used with custom forms, to send responses that are intended for further processing.
