Changing Practice, Changing Outcomes: National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine Conference 2023

In June 2023, Dr Liz Brewster, along with Professor Louise Locock, Dr Chris Clark, and Dr Andrew Maclaren, will present some initial findings from Mapping Doctors at the Changing Practice, Changing Outcomes: National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine Conference 2023 in Penrith. Under the theme‘Moving, staying and leaving: staffing remote and rural healthcare’ she will share insights from current research in the UK into what attracts healthcare staff to work in remote/rural areas, analysing what encourages them to stay or leave. This will be followed by an open discussion exploring how we can improve the situation. For more information and to attend, please sign up at the conference website.

Eden Project funded in Morecambe

While our current case study is Lincolnshire, we will soon be moving north to undertake our North-West case study. With this in mind, we are all excited to hear that Morecambe, one of the areas we will focus on, has been awarded funding to facilitate building of a new Eden Project Morecambe. This attraction will focus on reimagining health and wellbeing in the natural environment of Morecambe Bay and so is an interesting development for this part of our case study site. More about this is available from Eden
