Standardisation of marking project
This project seeks to better understand the benefits of marker teams engaging in marking standardisation practices. In short, this is the act of a team of markers reviewing a sample of assessed work together, before then completing the majority of the marking. Research evidence indicates that this leads to improved calibration in relation to academic standards and professional judgements. This in turn serves to improve consistency of feedback, and enhances fairness and transparency of assessment for students. The project will inform revisions to MARP to incorporate Standardisation practices as part of permitted moderation arrangements.
