  • The Lancaster Professional Programme

    The Lancaster Professional Programme is open to all members of administrative, technical and manual staff of the University, but is particularly relevant to those within grades 1-6.

  • Professional Services Conference

    The Professional Services Conference is a yearly conference open to all technical, professional and support staff based in departments, faculties, colleges, library and central divisions.

    The date for 2020 is Thursday 2nd April with the theme of bringing Communities of Practice within Lancaster to life. 

    Further information will be published for staff as soon as it is available.

  • Technical Staff

    Technicians are an integral part of Lancaster’s teaching and research activity and directly support the delivery of the 2020 strategy - find out more about the development opportunities available for Technical Staff.

  • Coaching and Mentoring

    Lancaster has fully embraced a coaching and mentoring culture with a variety of options and opportunities to include coaching and mentoring into all aspects of University life. Most OED development programmes have a coaching element embedded and there are many skills workshops and a certificate in coaching to support these initiatives at all levels.

  • Stepping into Management

    The Stepping into Management workshop is for those who are interested in progressing to a management or supervisory role in the short term and want to understand the role expectations and staff who are new to staff management and have not had any previous management development.

  • Global Learning Exchange

    Global Learning Exchange provides a unique opportunity for colleagues to spend time in a partner institution working with their equivalents

  • Apprenticeships

    Apprenticeships can be a great way to develop staff in a range of subject areas. Funding for apprenticeships is available through the apprenticeship levy. Further details can be found on the apprenticeships webpages.

    The University partners with Blackpool and the Fylde College will be on campus throughout the year to provide information sessions (see dates and times below) on the apprenticeships available and how these can be accessed by University Staff.

     Topics include:

    • Management and Leadership
    • Business Administration
    • Customer Service
    • Catering, Hospitality and Event Management
    • Computing and Digital technologies

    The information sessions will provide an overview of the different apprenticeships, what’s involved and provide the opportunity for questions.

  • MyPScareer@lancaster

    The MyPSCareer@Lancaster programme aims to develop and empower Professional Services staff to take control of and pro-actively manage their careers by focusing on the following areas:

    What's involved? 

    The programme incorporates workshops, action learning and individual exercises over a 4 month period. Dates as follows: 

    Workshop 1 - 07.02.20, 09:30-16:00

    Action Learning set 1 - 14.02.20 (times to be confirmed)

    Workshop 2 - 25.03.20, 09:30-16:00

  • Senior Leader Master's Degree Apprenticeship Programme

    Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship Programme

    The University is committed to developing its staff and has an exciting opportunity for a cohort, funded by the Apprenticeship Levy, to undertake the Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship Programme, delivered here at Lancaster, lasting for approximately 26 months.

    The programme is aimed at staff who are aspiring to be leaders within 2 – 5 years or staff who are currently in leadership roles.  It combines a Master’s Degree, the Senior Leaders Apprenticeship and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership with an option also available for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

    If this is not the right option for you right now, but you are looking to develop, please remember the Apprenticeship Levy can be utilised to benefit existing staff through a “conversion apprenticeship”, where staff can gain a formal qualification that is relevant to their role or career.  For further details on conversion apprenticeships, please refer to the apprenticeships microsite.

    The Project Management Module enables participants to gain the skills of Project Management and to plan projects, meet deadlines, interpret quality standards and plan to meet budget constraints.
