Welfare and Support
Whatever your problem, we’re here to help. We can offer help and support for anything from academic and financial difficulties to health, personal and family issues.
College Advisor Team
The College Advisor Team (CAT) is made up of members of University staff and is here to provide pastoral welfare support to all Pendle students. Students can contact the CAT at any point for support or someone to talk to about any aspect of life at Lancaster, such as homesickness, wellbeing, money worries, personal problems, or any other issues. Our college advisors are not based in the college but members of staff from across the University who are a ‘friendly face’ and can help with a variety of issues as well as signpost to other services. The welfare team also run a number of welfare campaigns throughout the year, aimed at tackling different issues, from homesickness to breast cancer awareness.
If you have a problem or just need someone to talk to, please get in touch. You can expect us to take your problems seriously, to deal with personal information sensitively and in strict confidence, and to find any further help you may need. You can contact the CAT team by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or ringing 01524 594772.
Sara Mellen is part of our College Advisor Team and provides wellbeing support and advice, often seeing students experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and working with guided self-help techniques based on low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She shares her hours between Pendle and Grizedale and you can make an appointment with her by emailing email@example.com.
The JCR welfare team consists of the Vice President (Welfare & Education), Men’s and Women’s Welfare Officers and the International Officer. You are always welcome to contact them for any help and support.
