The Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business is working towards a world where business understands, acts upon, and furthers sustainability outcomes in its activities. A key role of the Centre is therefore to bring together colleagues from across Lancaster University (and especially those in Lancaster University Management School) who share that vision to work together to further develop knowledge, and work with policy and practice communities in applying it. With upwards of seventy members, the Pentland Centre aims to create a supportive network whereby more impact is achieved than could be if members worked alone.

This ambition is reflected in the newly released ‘Transforming Tomorrow’ report from the Centre that explores the breadth and depth of members research and impact work. The report also highlights ‘fellow travellers’ in Lancaster University who champion sustainability.

Professor Jan Bebbington says “I arrived at Lancaster University two years ago in the middle of a pandemic lockdown and was looking forward to getting to know (and grow) Pentland Centre membership so that dedicated and talented colleagues from across the University could support businesses to be more sustainable. I have been amazed and inspired by colleagues' work and this publication showcases a series of projects, seminars, publications and opinion pieces related to sustainability in business. I hope you find stimulating stories in the report and reach out to Pentland Centre colleagues for more information and engagement. As another year draws to a close, I remain thankful for the support of Rubin Foundation Charitable Trust whose funding underpins the work showcased in the report.”
