Srshti PutchaPhD student
I am currently a second year PhD student at STOR-i CDT, having completed the MRes programme in 2018. My research focuses on developing scalable Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms. Much of the existing methodology in this field assumes that the data is independent. A separate challenge, which has often been overlooked, is applying "big data" Monte Carlo methods to dependent data sources. I am supervised by Chris Nemeth (Lancaster), Paul Fearnheard (Lancaster) and Emily Fox (University of Washington).
Prior to joining STOR-i, I graduated with a BSc Mathematics and Economics in 2016 from the LSE. I took a mixture of courses in pure and applied maths, statistics, and economics during my undergraduate degree. I chose to stay on at the LSE an extra year to pursue an MSc in Statistics.
