Cartmel Priory Crossing and Choir Screen

The Priory had been the subject of a thorough-going restoration from 1618 with the financial support of George Preston of Holker Hall: the nave of the church was ruinous, since the lead had been stripped off the roof after the Dissolution, and the rain got through. The choir screen is an early-17th-century restoration, as are the carved choir-stall backs and columns.
