Crosscrake Church

It is suggested that the ‘Grove Chapel’ on Ogilby's map is Crosscrake Chapel, now the Church of St Thomas (middle distance, copper spire): see the Old Cumbria Gazetteer. There has been a chapel on the site since 1192, though the current church is a Paley and Austin production, dating from 1874. If so, Ogilby and his successors appear to have got the balance between Crosscrake and Sedgewick wrong.
