Pendle Hill from the east, above Wycoller and Colne: stormy summer day.
On the day when Fox went up Pendle Hill, it must have been unusually clear. Though this is a characteristic view of the weather in the Ribble Valley, an early spring photograph will probably be clearer and more authentic to Foxs experience. The road from Howarth to Colne is marked on the 1793 sheet map by John Cary.
