give him me, and then he took me from amongst them and let me out of the
steeple-house; and four officers and constables he gave me to them, to have me
to the town to whip me, so some led me by the shoulders and some by the
hands and some by the arms, and shook me by the head, and led me through
mire and dirt and water, and some got staves and some got hollow bushes
and some got willows, and some hedgestakes, and so they led me till they
came to a common and many Friendly people, their heads were broken that day and
the blood ran down their faces, and then the constables took me and gave
me a whisk over the shoulders with their willow rods, and thrust me amongst abundance
of rude people, which fell upon me with their hedge-stakes and bats and
staves, and struck at me as hard as ever they could strike; my head, my arms,
my back, and it was a great while before they beat me down upon the wet
common, which was a great while before I fell, and there I lay a pretty space
upon the wet, beat and bruised, and then the power of the Lord went
through me and refreshed me and healed me and strengthened me
and I was moved to stand up in it in the mighty power of the Lord God, amongst
all the rude multitude, and stretched out my arms over them in the power
of the Lord God and bid them strike again and there came a man with a
ruler and gave me a blow over my hand, that I could not stir it, no
manner of way, but it stood out as it was; and the people cried, He hath spoiled
