ye way of saluation & ye way of euerlastinge life: & soe I
declared largely ye way of life & truth ʌto ym &
directed ym to there teacher: yt had dyed for ym & had bought
ym with his bloude: & when I had donne I passed
away: about 2 miles to a nother great steeplehouse
of Wilkisons yt stoode in a feilde: & ye people was mightlly
* affectedx: & woulde haue putt my horse in ye steeplehouse yarde
& I saide noe yt is ye preists: ʌclaims yt carry him to an Inn:
And when I came Into ye steeplehouse yarde I saw
people comeinge as to a fayre: & aboundans was already
gathered in ye lanes & about ye steeplehouse: & beinge
very thirsty I walkt about a quarter of a mile to a brooke
& got a litle water & refresht my selfe
And as I came vppe againe I mett ye preist wilkison &
as I was goeinge by him Sr saide hee will you preach
to day: if you will says hee I will not oppose you not
in worde or thought: but I saide oppose if thou wilt
I haue somethinge to speak to ye people: & thou carryed
thy selfe foolishly ye other day & spoakest agst thy conscience
& reason: soe as thy hearers cryed out agst thee: soe I
went away & left him: for hee saw It was in vaine
to oppose ye people was soe affected with ye Lords truth
Soe I came Into ye steeplehouse yarde: & not seeinge any
convenient place to speake ouer to ye people: & a professor
came againe & askt if I woulde not goe Into ye church: ʌas he caled it &
I saw yt woulde bee ye bestʌconvenienst place to speake vnto ye people
from in her soe I went in; & ystoode vppe in
a pe seate after ye people
X was setled:X & ye preist came In but did not goe vppe Into his
pulpitt: & soe I declared Gods euerlastinge truth & worde
of life for about 3 houres to ye people & all was quiett
& brought ym all to ye spiritt of God in ymselues by wch:

way of Everlasting Life. And so I declared largely the way of Life

and Truth to them, and directed them to Christ their Teacher,
that had died for them, and bought them with his Blood.
When I had done, I passed away about Two Miles to another
great Steeple-house of said John Wilkinson’s, called Brigham; where
the People, having been at the other Meeting, were mightily affected;
and would have put my Horse into the Steeple-house-Yard: but I said,
No; the Priest claims that; have him to an Inn. When I came into
the Steeple-house-Yard, I saw the People coming in great Companies,
as to a Fair; and abundance were already gathered in the Lanes,
and about the Steeple-house. I was very Thirsty; and walked about
a quarter of a Mile to a Brook, where I got some Water, and re-
freshed my Self. And as I came up again, I met the said Wilkinson;
who, as I passed by him, said, Sir, will you preach to day? If you
will, said he, I will not Oppose you in Word or Thought. I replied, Op-
pose, if thou wilt; I have something to speak to the People. And, said
I, thou carried’st thy self foolishly the other day, and spakest a-
gainst thy Conscience and Reason; insomuch that thy Hearers cried
out against thee. So I left him, and went on; for he saw, it was in
vain to Oppose, the People were so affected with the Lord’s Truth.
When I came into the Steeple-house-Yard, a Professor came to me and
asked, If I would not go into the Church? (as he called it) And I see-
ing no convenient Place abroad, to stand to speak unto the People
from, went in; and stood up in a Seat, after the People were settled.
The Priest came in also; but did not go up to his Pulpit. ‘So the
‘Lord opened my Mouth, and I declared his Everlasting Truth, and
‘Word of Life to the People; directing them to the Spirit of God in
‘themselves, by which
