(91) to ye Lord Jesus Xt there teacher: & warned ym of doeinge
any violence to any man: & yt they might shew foorth a Xtians
life & turned ym from ye darknesse to ye light & from ye power
107 of Sathan vnto God: & I lett ym see what was there teacher
* & what woulde bee there condemnation: & had noe
opposition but from ye serjant whoe afterwards came to
bee convinct.

And on ye markett day: I went vppe Into ye markett to
ye crosse & ye magistrates had threatned & sent there serjants

& ye: magistrates wiffes saide

ʌyt if I came there howe they would plucke ye haire off
my heade & yt ye serjants shoulde take mee vppe yett
neuertheless I obeyed ye Lord Gd & went vpon ye Crosse: &
there declared vnto ym yt ye day of ye Ld was comeinge vpon
all there deceitefull ways & doeinges & deceitfull merchan
dise: & yt they was to lay away all couseninge & cheatinge
& keepe to yea & nea & speake ye truth one to another soe
I sett ye truth & ye power of God ouer ym: & ye people beinge
thronge ye: serjants coulde not gett to mee soe I passt
away quietly after I had declared ye word of life to
y:e people: & many people & souldyers came to mee & some
baptists yt were bitter contenders; yt one of there deacons
cryed out ye Lds power beinge over ym: & I sett my eyes
vpon him & spake sharpely to him in ye power of ye Lorde
& hee cr˙ed dont peirce mee soe with thy eyes keepe
thy eyes off mee:

And on ye first day: after I went Into ye steeplehouse: &
after ye preist had donne I spoake to ym: ye truth to ym
& declared ye word of life amongst ye people: & ye ma
=gistrates desired mee to goe out of ye steeplehouse but ye
preist gott away: but I still declared: & tolde ym: I came to
speake ye worde of life & saluation from ye Ld amongst ym
& a dreadefull power of ye Ld there was amongst y:m in ye
                                                                    steeplehouse

107 of Satan unto God: & I let them see what was their teacher
* & what would he their condemnation: & had no
opposition but from the sergeant who afterwards came to
he convinced.

And on the market day: I went up into the market to
the Cross
& the magistrates had threatened & sent their sergeants
& the magistrates’ wives said that if I came there, how they would pluck
the hair off my head, & that the sergeants should take me up; yet
nevertheless I obeyed the Lord God & went upon the Cross: &
there declared unto them that the day of the Lord was coming upon
all their deceitful ways & doings & deceitful merchandise
& that they was to lay away all cozening & cheating
& keep to yea & nay; & speak the truth one to another; so
I set the truth & the power of God over them: & the people being
throng, the sergeants could not get to me so I passed
away quietly after I had declared the word of life to
the people: & many people & soldiers came to me & some
Baptists that were bitter contenders; that one of their deacons
cried out, the Lord’s power being over them: & I set my eyes
upon him & spoke sharply to him in the power of the Lord
& he cried, ‘Don’t pierce me so with thy eyes, keep
thy eyes off me!’

And on the first day: after I went into the steeplehouse: &
after the priest had done I spoke the truth to them
& declared the word of life amongst the people, & the
magistrates desired me to go out of the steeplehouse but the
priest got away; but I still declared & told them, I came to
speak the word of life & salvation from the Lord amongst them
& a dreadful power of the Lord there was amongst them in the
