(97) a great meetinge a toppe of a hill where ye preist came no[t]
though hee had threatned: & all was quiett: & ye euerlastinge
day & renouned truth of ye euerlastinge God was sounded
ouer those dark countryes: & his son sett ouer all

And all yt had made a profession of ye son of Gd now ye day
was come they might receiue him: & as many as did receiue
him to ym: hee woulde giue power to become ye sons of God
as hee had donne to mee: & hee yt had ye son of
God hee had life eternall: & hee yt had not ye son of
God lett him professe all ye scriptures from Genesis to ye
reuelations hee had not life:

And after yt all was turned to ye light of Xt: by wch they
might see him & receiue him & knowe where there tea
=cher was: & ye euerlastinge truth largely declared wee passed
away through Hexam peaceably & soe came Into Gills

        where some in that     were very theeivish)

lande a theeuishʌ country: ʌ where a freinde spyed ye preist
& went to speake to him: & hee came downe to our Inn
& ye tounds people came about vs: & soe ye preist saide hee
woulde proue us deceiuers out of ye bible but coulde not finde
noe scripture for his purpose: soe hee went Into ye Inn: &
after a while came out: & brought: yt: Scripture: ye doctrines
amp; commandements of men touch ym not & tast ym: not for
they perish with ye vseing: wch: poore man was his
owne condition for hWee was persecuted because wee woulde
not tast nor touch nor handle there doctrines wch: wee knew
perished with ye vseinge:

* Soe I askt him what he caled ye steeplehouse: oh: saide
hee ye dreadefull house of God ye temple of God: & I lett him

                                                                          shoulde bee

& ye poore darke people see yt there bodyes were ʌ ye temples of
God: & Xt neuer commanded these temples but had ended
yt temple att Jerusalem wch. Gd had commanded: & soe
ye preist gott away: & ye people began to tell vs yt
they feared wee woulde take there purses or steale there horses: & Judged
vs like ym selues whoe are naturally giuen to theiuinge
& ye next day wee came through yt country Into Cumberlande
againe
