DSI Health - Covid Research Showcase

DSI Health Covid Research Showcase – 3rd February - 1-3

DSI is showcasing some of the incredible research linked to Covid that has taken place over the last 18 months. We had hoped to do this in person but rather than postpone we have decided to present online. The Showcase highlights the scope of work undertaken under the umbrella of the DSI Health theme, and the close working relationships we have in engagement terms with local and national organisations. The work on show today demonstrates that Data Science health research covers a range across Fact;ties in the University, and across organisations allowing impact in real life terms.

Chris Jewell - Making sense of the data:using computer models to turn SARS-CoV-2 case data into practical policy information

Jonathan Read - Hospital-acquired infections of SARS-CoV-2 during the first pandemic wave in the UK

John Appleby – The ethical case for a moratorium on the wildlife trade: an argument for reducing the risk of future zoonotic pandemics

William Dance and Clare Hardaker – Pandemics and infodemics: how Covid disinformation became the new viral transmission

The Teams link to join these talks is here

The showcase ends with the Distinguished Speaker talk by Dr Sakthi Karunanithi "Problem, what problem? Perspective taking amidst constant change amidst a pandemic”?

This talk will begin at 3pm
