Research Background

I began my interest in mental health research as an assistant working in Oxford on studies exploring cognitive behavioural models of anxiety disorders. I then moved to Manchester to study for my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and focussed my dissertation on metacognitive beliefs in auditory hallucinations. My PhD came next and this explored more broadly the beliefs about mental health problems held by people diagnosed with schizophrenia and their relatives. Since then, I have been in interested in the development and implementation of psychosocial interventions for people with mental health problems and their relatives. I have worked in the NHS and Universities in the North West.
