Future-forming interdisciplinary research

The next in a series of Global Futures events ‘exploring burning questions for global society’:

Are WE Facing Up to Climate reality?

We are used to hearing that the climate crisis is serious, but still tractable if we start acting on it soon. The reality is surely different. It’s a safe bet that things are going to get much worse, for a long time, whatever we do now.

But a challenging new book explores how we might confront this situation honestly without giving up hope.

Join us to discuss these urgent but uncomfortable realities.

Tuesday 11th June 2019, 4pm-6pm+

Training Rooms 1&2, Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University

John Foster, Lancaster University and Green House Think Tank, will give an introduction to the book and its themes.

Mike Berners-Lee, Director, Small World Consulting and author of There is No Planet B, will briefly respond.

Anne Chapman, Green House and former Lancaster councillor, will talk about the implications for local action.

Followed by group discussion and an open session to share ideas (before and after refreshments).

All welcome. The event will bring together people from across the University, Lancaster city and the local area. For catering purposes it will be helpful if you can let us know if you will be attending the event by emailing researchinstitutes@lancaster.ac.uk

Copies of Facing Up to Climate Reality and There is No Planet B will be available for sale.
