Join a Team

Our Sports Teams take competition seriously. They work hard, train hard and play hard. Interested in joining? Here's what you need to know.

Sport Lancaster and Sport Lancaster + Clubs

Each team member that plays for a Lancaster University Team will have a special Sport Lancaster or Sport Lancaster + membership. These memberships give members special access to facilities and support that brings an extra level of professionalism to their team.

Sport Lancaster + Clubs

Most clubs at Lancaster require a Sport Lancaster + membership. This includes their BUCS fees, including affiliation and transport costs covered. Members also gain exclusive gym access between 6.15pm to 10pm every Sunday evening and are guaranteed access to training facilities at least twice a week.

Sports kit is provided to members free of charge, though this is club owned and must be returned before you leave at the end of the year.

Access to the Sport Lancaster + membership will be given when you join the team and more information is available from the Sports Centre reception, or from the Students' Union.

Sport Lancaster Clubs

A small group of clubs require a Sport Lancaster membership. This membership is aimed at teams that compete in BUCS but do not require a gym membership in order to partake. Normal memberships can be taken out separately, but are not included in this membership. Teams that require this membership are often self funded and so usually incur an additional cost for purchasing kit.

These clubs benefit from 50% funding for BUCS competition.

For either of these membership options, the first step is to reach out to the team. You can do this by exploring the teams online or by asking at reception. From there, you can liaise with the team members and gain access to the membership. Prices vary.
