Following the Government's latest announcement and governing body guidance we will introduce a phased re-opening of the facilities from Wednesday 5th August.

Following the Government's latest announcement and governing body guidance we will introduce a phased re-opening of the facilities from Wednesday 5th August. Initially the ground floor Gym, Climbing Wall, Studios and Sports Hall’s including the Sports Centres new development of an additional Studio and Sports Hall.

We aim to have the swimming pool operational later in August. The upstairs fitness suite and Strength and Conditioning Room are currently closed for maintenance works and to have a full re-fit of brand-new Technogym equipment. This will be operational by the beginning of Autumn providing an extensive range of work out options. We will provide further updates before each facility is reopened; however, the intention is for all facilities to be operational by the Autumn.

Your safety, and that of our staff is a top priority. We have adapted facilities to allow us to offer a safe experience however, some facilities will be reduced in order to achieve this. Please read the Important Changes page if you are planning to visit the centre.

Initially, we will be operating on reduced hours, we intend to increase the hours for indoor and outdoor facilities over the following weeks. Please see weekly opening hours and timetable update.

As each facility reopens, all activities will need to be booked in advance. Available sessions must be booked online or by phone; if applicable, payment will be required at the time of booking. We regret that we will not be accepting walk ins at this time. Currently the only facilities open on campus that do not require booking in advance are the tennis courts.

This is how we are keeping customers and staff safe:

What will be available from 5th August

A phased reopening will include the ground floor Gym, Sports Halls, Studios and Climbing Wall opening from Wednesday 5th August.

Keeping a safe distance

A one-way system has been introduced; we ask you to follow this at all times. Signage is in place throughout the centre to help guide you. We’ve created the space you need to work out while keeping a safe distance. Activity areas have been rearranged and clearly marked out for you to use safely, so it is easy for everyone to follow. We'll also control the numbers for each activity at any given time so it never gets too busy.

Frequent cleaning

Equipment and surfaces will be cleaned by the team throughout the day and after each session. An extensive clean will take place at the end of each day with an anti-viral disinfectant so you can train in confidence. Gym users will need to clean equipment they have handled after each use, with the disinfectant provided.

Self-cleaning stations

A self-cleaning cleaning station is located in the gym, sports halls, studios and climbing wall so you can clean your kit before and after use.

Hand sanitising

Hand washing facilities are available and in addition to these hand sanitiser stations are positioned throughout the building. Hands should be sanitised prior to entering the building and when leaving. In addition to these hands should be cleaned before and when leaving activity areas to keep you and others safe.

Personal belongings and equipment for activities

Personal belongings should be kept to a minimum, towels are not permitted in activity areas. Locker space will be limited and will only be made available for essential items. Please bring your own kit to sessions where necessary. Kit cannot be shared, borrowed or hired; this includes yoga mats. To reduce the number of touch points, please bring your own drinking bottles pre-filled.

Changing rooms

Changing rooms are not available therefore we request that you arrive ready to start your activity and shower at home.

Accessible toilets will be available on both floors with additional toilets and sinks on the ground floor.

Staff training and expertise

All staff have been fully trained on our new hygiene, cleaning and safety measures to ensure these are delivered to a high standard.

Some classes will not take place due to social distancing however, more classes will be put on to ensure there is something for everyone.

Bookings and payment if applicable can be made up to 7 days in advance online or by phone this is to ensure as little contact as possible (please see opening times). Session times have been limited to ensure customers have a safe environment to train and the opportunity to train every day.

Pay as you play and book many activities and classes online. Not a member? Click here to register.

Track and Trace

A temporary record of customers and visitors will be kept for 21 days.

There will be no safety inductions until further notice therefore the gym and climbing wall will be restricted to customers who have already used the facilities.

Ground floor gym: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Climbing Wall: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Fitness Classes

For more information please see the timetable.

Sports Hall

Badminton, short tennis and table tennis are available throughout the day. Basketball and futsal are available for skills and drills.

There will be a minimum gap of 15-minute between each session for staff to clean the activity areas and to prevent congestion before and after activities. Activity start times are staggered to reduce the number of customers entering and leaving the centre at any one time.
